Electronics for Imaging (EFI) has released the next generation of its PrintMe Mobile mobile-printing solution, version 2.4, which it says adds advanced IT management capabilities and mobile-printing enablement across print fleets regardless of printer brand.
EFI’s PrintMe Mobile is server-based enterprise software that enables Wi-Fi printing from iPads, iPhones and Android devices to all networked printers regardless of brand.
Version 2.4 adds a new IT administrative dashboard that provides searching, filters, tags, and data export/import to enable IT to identify, configure, and check status of hundreds of printers from a central location. Version 2.4 also enables IT to track mobile-printing usage in job-accounting software, such as Equitrac Office and Express, GoPrint, PaperCut, Print Audit, and Sepialine Argos. PrintMe Mobile now also supports payment systems, such as VendPrint, enabling mobile printing in coin-operated environments. Version 2.4 also provides Microsoft Windows laptop and Windows 8 tablet users with the ability to print regardless of location within a company. The software’s new user interface also allows IT to diagnose issues in real-time and to see all licensed printers in one location.
EFI reports that, according to a recent TechNavio report, the most requested feature in mobile devices, such as iPhones and iPads, is printing. As the demand for mobile printing increases, organizations need to manage mobile printing throughout the enterprise, and PrintMe Mobile provides this solution with Wi-Fi mobile printing in mixed environments running mixed operating systems.
