Cisco Spark is an incredibly cool new cloud-based solution for meetings, messaging and calling (more details in a forthcoming post!), but as with any technology, we run into the occasional error message...

When installing Cisco Spark on a new system, if you encounter a conflict with your roaming profile that prevents the install, here's the fix.

The error I received was: The older version of Cisco Spark cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.

Microsoft Windows Server Fix for Get-DfsrFileHash Error 0x00000005

Microsoft Windows Server recommends that you Validate Preseeded Files for DFS Replication during setup of Distributed File System (DFS) Replication. But when you validate file hashes on either your source or destination server you may get the following error:

Get-DfsrFileHash : Could not calculate the file hash. Error code 0x00000005

There isn't much information on error 0x00000005, however there is a simple fix I've found.

With my recent switch to Microsoft Hyper-V for virtualizing my work desktop (Windows 10 guest on Windows 10 host), I've come across the following error when resuming my virtual machine and attempting to login:

"The session was disconnected.  If you want to continue, try to connect again.  If the problem persists, contact your system administrator. 

Would you like to reconnect?"

How to Recover Email Retention Policy Settings in Microsoft Office 365

Bug Fix: Start Menu Missing on Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9926

I’ve been using Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9926 as my daily driver at work on VMware Workstation 11.1.0 and found that my start menu stop working. The lack of a start button drove me crazy and almost sent me back to Windows. Doing some research, I came across another user's "fix" in the comments section of the Windows Blog. But it still didn't solve my issue.

Kaspersky PURE 3.0 Stuck Updating

If Kaspersky PURE 3.0 is stuck updating (22%ish) from version 13.0.2.558b to 13.0.2.558c and the log shows the file is stuck downloading on "stpass.exe.ap" (16mb)
